Rapidly emerging Chinese smartphone giant Vivo has done something distinct who else done the before. It has modified the fingerprint technologies in some engrossing way to entice the consumers by putting the fingerprint reader on the screen of the smartphone. It would be the first model that embedded fingerprint scanner inside the screen.
Vivo is going to display this feature at Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2018) in the Las Vegas on 10 January. Chinese giant didn’t reveal any information about the model but supposedly, it will have seen in the upcoming models of it.
Vivo is relying on the optical fingerprint sensor from Synaptics, which had announced this technology towards the end of 2017.
According to the press release in Vivo, the fingerprint reader is placed between the OLED and glass panel covering the display. Need for this type of fingerprint scanner has risen after Smartphone manufacturer turned to full display.
Most of the manufacturer eliminated side bezels on their smartphones like Samsung with its Galaxy S8, Note 8 devices, LG with its G6, V30+, Xiaomi with its Mi Mix and Mi Mix 2. Apple’s iPhone X also has no side bezels. The taller display has also resulted in the end of the physical home button on the front of the device, where the fingerprint scanner was typically placed.
