If you are an aficionado the cricket then ‘Sachin’ name treated as the god by you. Sachin is not just a name but it is the heartbeat of many cricket followers. Throughout the 24 years, he ruled the cricket by making so many invincible records and by his serenity, mellow nature, gentleness and by many more things.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to “unofficially” retire the No.10 jersey for international matches. The No.10, worn by Sachin Tendulkar throughout his career in ODIs and for a solitary international T20, will, henceforth, be associated only with the man himself.
Tendulkar retired in November 2013 after a magnificent 24-year-long career to an end. He had last worn No. 10 in March 2012 when he played his last ODI against Pakistan.
Since then, jersey no. 10  was unused about five years before it is opted by the Mumbai based pacer Shardul Thakur in the ODI debut match against Srilanka in the last August. It caused a prompted trolling on social media and the sentiments of many fans got hurt.
In an interview, Thakur asserted numerology as the reason. He said the digits of his date of birth (16.10.1991) add up to 28 and 2+8 equals 10.
Thakur curbed from using No. 10 when he returned to India squad in October for the series against New Zealand. In warm-up games, he was seen wearing jersey No. 54.

“It unnecessarily creates controversy and players get criticized,” “So it’s better to retire the number unofficially. Players, though, can wear it when they play for India A or for say a non-international list A match, but not during an international.” BCCI official quoted.
The Mumbai Indians, already, had retired No.10 in 2013 after Sachin retired from all forms of the game.
Unlike football, there is no such provision for retiring a jersey in ICC guidelines, so the BCCI has decided to the unofficial retirement of no. 10 jersey tribute to the legend and to avoid unnecessary backlash.
